Cloudflare Pages.

Put a website online so other people can visit it while your computer is switched off.

Neurospicy explanation

Cloudflare Pages puts a website on the internet so someone else can open it while your laptop is closed. You give it the finished website files, or connect the project so it can build them. This is the hosting part of the job. If you are starting a new project, Cloudflare now points people towards Workers; Pages is still useful to understand when a site already uses it.

// Put it to use

A real-world example

You already maintain a website on Pages and want to check a change before making it the main public version.

  1. Build and check the change on your own computer first.
  2. Read the Pages preview deployment settings for your existing project.
  3. When you are ready to put that version online, create a preview and check its access settings.
  4. Test the preview links and mobile layout before choosing to update the main site.

What you getA reviewed website version before the main public release. A hosted preview is still online; it is not the same as a local-only preview.

// The useful bits. The trade-offs.

Is it a good fit?

People maintaining an existing Pages site or comparing hosting options.

Pros

  • Publish prebuilt website files or connect an existing Git-based workflow.
  • Use preview deployments to review a version before updating the main site.

Cons & considerations

  • Plan limits and the cost of related products need checking for your workload.
  • No hosting migration or guaranteed savings are implied.
A little more detail

Work out what your website needs before choosing its hosting.

Cloudflare Pages supports Git-based deployments and direct upload of prebuilt assets. Pages Functions provide server-side functionality.

For an existing Pages site, understand its build command, output directory, environment variables and rollback process. Cloudflare currently recommends Workers for new projects; that does not require moving an existing site.

Compare the whole job: hosting allowances, dynamic requests, storage, domains, maintenance and support. A free allowance is not a promise that every website costs nothing.

// Take the idea further

What else could you do?

Check a content update

Review a hosted preview of an existing Pages site on desktop and mobile before release.

Understand a failed build

Compare the build command and output folder with the project's Pages settings.
